Community Food Pantry
Food. Choice. Dignity.
The HSNY Community Food Pantry is like no other in the area. There are no lines.
Unlike other food pantries, where lines stretch out into the street, and there is little regard for the nutritional value or eating habits of clients, services in the pantry are by appointment only. Designed to feel like a grocery shopping experience, the pantry allows clients to choose foods that meet their needs, preferences, and cultural traditions. This model removes barriers, reduces wait times, and centers on dignity in every interaction.
Each client and their family are assessed individually for what food best suits them. In addition to being fed, they learn appropriate and healthy eating habits that will sustain them in the future. To support these efforts, there are ongoing nutrition and cooking classes as well as individual nutrition counselling and case management alongside accessing fresh and familiar foods, clients work with a registered dietitian to learn how to budget groceries, build balanced meals, and make informed choices that support their health. Last year alone, the HSNY Community Food Pantry served individuals and families with 8,630 appointments.

Housing Solutions of New York delivers lasting pathways out of homelessness through supportive housing, emergency shelter, food access, workforce development, and comprehensive support services.
Every day, HSNY helps individuals and families move from crisis to stability. While government and community partnerships sustain our current operations across New York City, they cannot fund the scale of growth needed to meet the rising demand for services.
As homelessness continues to impact more New Yorkers, HSNY is expanding proven, high-impact programs that strengthen communities and create long-term stability.
You can participate in the HSNY Adopt-A-Shelter Program; HSNY invites corporations, foundations, and community leaders to partner directly with HSNY in supporting shelter residents while helping expand services for more New Yorkers in need.
